Site Summary

Tired of the standardized, canned routine?
Canmore, Alberta 2006
will provide its unique formula for the third year! The combination of small size, freedom, and flexibility in a spectacular setting, will likely change your view of how the Feast should be. Life is too short to park your body and mind in a chair for this exciting, God ordained, week of the year. Canmore is a gem location on our globe and we have a Feast style that owes its impact to adaptive simplicity. Check out the Saskatoon Sabbatarian Fellowship  website for a detailed description of what is happening and get preparing now for the Feast at its Best!

Location of Services

Services may occur at the Manning condo. In the unlikely event that we are blown away by folks wanting to attend with us, a hall may be rented at the last minute! Hopefully some services will occur outdoors by a peaceful river or on a mountain lookout. In previous years we enjoyed the marvelous flexibility of a small group being able to make last minute plans for the ideal meeting location, given the weather and the mood of the group!

Service format is as flexible as our location choice. Everyone has the opportunity for input, but just remember – if you want to talk, you’d better be prepared to listen as well! But we do need talkers – thoughts have to be expressed for everyone’s benefit! We can fall back on tapes, but a variety of personal presentations is so much better. We will try to have a projector to allow PowerPoint presentations.

Accommodations

Canmore is outside the Banff National Park and living spaces are everywhere and at lower cost than inside the park.  Deadman’s Flats, a Canmore suburb, has very reasonable motels.

Further information and motel links are provided at Saskatoon Sabbatarian Fellowship

Service Opportunities

A micro feast group does not require much organization – just a few amiable personalities who want to try to get along and provide some group enrichment. The Saskatoon Sabbatarian Fellowship  website provides an idea list for potential presentations. If you have the “umph” to take in an independent Feast, then there is a good chance God is working in your life and you have some interesting stories to tell that will inspire others. A 10 minute story from a motivated individual may have a far greater impact than an experienced speaker who has given the sermon several times over the years. Large organized groups have major pluses but also some real drawbacks – don’t sell yourself short on what you can contribute and gain at a small Feast site!

Area Attractions

It is almost sacrilege to list specific attractions of the Canmore /Banff area. All the tourist traps and “civilized living” features are available as well as dramatic God designed artistic features and plenty of wilderness peace and isolation – the warm, the cold, the near, the far, the harsh, the gentle, the loud, the quiet! This natural area, with the roaring western town of Calgary close at hand, allows anyone to pursue any mood they desire. Canmore/Banff is a gem; it is known around the world and has little need of hype. Come and experience it! Here are some links to various area features.

Feast Schedule

As in previous years, the schedule is put together once we are at Canmore. Some preplanning is required on the part of everyone who comes, but like a potluck meal, it always works out!
