The Ami Yisrael Hebraic Congregation is blessed to be able to host the festival at Lake Murray again this year. Our site, the
“Season of Our Joy”, is a "Hebrew Roots" feast site which means that we attempt to look at the Bible from a "Hebrew" perspective. We understand that the Bible is a Hebrew book, written by the Hebrew people, and written about the Hebrew people. We also acknowledge that Yeshua was a first century Jew as were the writers of the New Testament. Therefore we study to try and understand the first century Jewish culture, liturgy, and services that Yeshua and His disciples would have been familiar with. We also believe that understanding God's holy days is a major key to understanding His plan of salvation. Therefore, much emphasis is placed on teaching about these days as well as the customs and traditions surrounding them.
The theme of this year's festival is "Hear Oh Israel!" The focus of many of the morning sessions will be on helping us rise to our calling as “children of Abraham” (Gal. 3:29), both in our understanding of our role in the congregation of Israel and our “walk” as God’s people. Besides the morning teaching session, early each morning we will read from the book of Deuteronomy with the intent of completing this "second giving of the law" during the 8 days we're together. On most of the week day afternoons, we will be having "break-out" sessions where you can choose from a variety of speakers on differing subjects. On some of the evenings we hope to have organized campfire Bible study sessions down in the Sukkot area. Along with these teachings on the weekdays, there will be sermons and group Torah studies on the Sabbath. |
