Feast Report:

I praise the Almighty for my feast here in Northern Virginia. As a result of my conversation with Sam I advertised with Internet Church of God (links to Journal) and had people from North Carolina and Pennsylvania and locally that I had never previously meet. I am often asked how many did you have how many did you have? I don't know that it is a question of how many we have but how many did you talk to and have some kind of relation with and indeed is that really even an important numerical question? We are first and foremost never alone but have God to talk to.
Be like that guy on Fiddler on the Roof.

My Feast had for all practical things as many as I could deal with. I had just enough people just as God gives just enough to eat, just enough gas, etc. We had a study about the several messages of the Feast (write if interested), a message about Laws and Statutes, had dinners together, we sat outside in Andorick chairs, and inside around the living room where we ended the Feast by listening to a sermon by John Pinkston about the Eight Day of the Feast. Wherever you are and whoever you are you too can celebrate the Feast whatever your circumstances! I continued to read my Bible daily and pray during the Feast which was it's own special blessing! Praise Almighty God!-

Site Summary

The ideas for a feast observation grew out of a correspondence with a friend:

Hi Sam,

First of all why. I had been thinking about what is a holy convocation. We are told to keep it in Lev 23 but we are not told what it is. There are the sacrifices for the tent of the meeting which the early Israelites hung around. It was only after Nehemiah that the going to the Temple on a regular basis was started and that might well of been appropriate for some till Christ was crucified but was it afterwards? Apparently there was some going to the temple.

Well, anyway my focus has been in not temple times. We read of Abraham who meets with the three. I can't think of any meeting that is so profound. Certainly it is holy with Jesus there as a human as we have it.

Might this be an example for us of holy convocation I have been asking? There is no going to where God puts his name as there is no temple in Jerusalem.

There are many who believe in keeping the Feast. Some might not be able to in the years ahead for a variety of reasons. Maybe it would be good to give this kind of feast. A few years back small group near us held a unofficial feast in a condominium in Florida, just people meeting in a living room with no fixed addenda. The big corporate way of keeping the Feast (of Tabernacles) might not be available to many. There is a need for big meeting room, Condominium reservations, transportation to get there. Money and maybe some other things. Leviticus mentions building booths and the four species often completely ignored in our past.
I propose following the Abrahamic model. In it Abraham waits by his tent and when he sees the three he jumps up and offers hospitality then orders food prepared. There is conversation etc.

We could do much the same. Those going off to large corporate type of feasts could be urged to call, write of email at least once (Rodkzmin@cs.com. Some locally never do visit. We could visit others. We could listen to call in sites or tapes. Take walks together. Or just sit outside waiting and thinking or reading. Perhaps some would want to string those plastic imitation Japanese lanterns or impromptu booths?

Some may want to motel or camp nearby. We could treat ourselves to special food food a feature of Jerusalem feasts and Abraham.

I suggested it to our group some said they might very well visit. Perhaps I could put an  ad in the Journal and offer others to list themselves? Invite neighbors and people we know so as to proclaim the feasts of the Lord as we are urged to in Lev 23 That's all I can think of.- Rod

HI Rod

I am not sure I know how you plan to do this or where. I know you were invited to a Feast but do you plan to do those things at that site or at home ?? I can see that you might well be on to something. Years ago I asked a group at Greensburg Ps to hold a Feast at a rural place they used for Holy Day services sometimes and they said they did not have enough Speakers for each day. My thought then and still is that Speaking by some formal setup every day is not required but just became a "thing"
that used to do but really was not what the Feast was all about.

Area Attractions

Reston is very near the Nation's Capitol

Reston is a planed community and has many recreational opportunities. Some that come to mind is a large indoor pool with large spa just down the road about a half mile away. Several rooms are available as there might come a need. Reston has some fifty miles of paved walkways that go through treed nature areas, lakes. I hope people will bring a canoe if possible as this might be fun. But rentals are available on one of three lakes.
