Feast of Tabernacles 2021
September 20-28, 2021
Site Summary
Join us for our first annual Sukkot gathering!
I have
booked the Ridge Rd tent camping area and pavillion for us to gather
this fall for Sukkot! Their recommendation (for our comfort) is 50
tents, but they don't care how cozy we want to be, if more than that
want to come. The pavillion with tables technically seats 50, but
again, camp chairs says that is also flexible.
There are 2
toilets in that location, and bath houses nearby with showers and
laundry facilities if things get too out of hand. there are charcoal
grills and a fire pit.
there is a small playground right
across the street, a lake for fishing or swimming, 2 other playgrounds,
a small restaraunt(that's cheating, its Sukkot!) and an indoor pool all
within walking distance.
We have horse shoe pits, a
kickball/baseball diamond, a sand volleyball pit, space for soccer or
frisbee... I will also bring a nine square set-up... we should
definitely have plenty to keep occupied.
I am booking September 19 through 29 to allow for setup and tear down.
If
you want to drag a camper, or rent a cottage, that is also an option
that can be arranged, but they need to know ASAP so the September spots
dont fill up.
Location of Services
All of the scheduled activites will be in the camping area,
visible and within walking distance to one another. The teachings and
services will be based on Biblical instruction, without regard to title
or denominantion, though there will be some discussion about
traditional Jewish reasoning. It will all be interactive and reverently
casual. We are all learning, and especially being our first corporate
Sukkot gathering, we ask for grace and feedback to help shape out
future events.
Since none of us take the classic christmas
family pictures anymore, we plan to photograph each family at Sukkot,
probably on Monday 9/20, so that you can build those memories on
the wall and share them with friends and family if you so choose. Plan
at least one outfit to be photographed as a family!!
Accommodations
I am paying the $2,000 rental for the camping area, so there is no reservation or cost required for tent camping.
If
anyone wants to bring their camper/RV then you will need to reserve a
spot across the street from our tenting area for $60/night.
Alternatively there are cottages and cabins available for a fee as
well. Those reservations will need to be made by YOU, ASAP.
To
make those reservations, call (540)972-7433, and tell them that you
would like to schedule a lot/cottage/cabin as part of the group event
9/19-29 and specify that you would like to be close to the Ridge Rd
camping area if possible. I dont know what accommodations will be
available at the time you call.
Service Opportunities
Many hands make light work!
It would be most helpful to
have volunteers to lead or help with some of the morning family
activities, and the evening activities and games. Also, if there are
any musically talented individuals who could lead the praise and
worship time, and skilled in Hebrew dance, any who would like to help
me setup and clean up meals, or any willing to keep the littles safe at
the playground while parents get a break to be edified! If you feel
that any of those sound like a good fit, please let me know!
I
have also had many ask about the cost - there is none unless you need
special accomodations for lodging or food beyond what is being
provided. I want everyone to be able to fellowship. If your budget is
limited, spend the money on camping gear or travel. If you have
prepared your 2nd tithe, bring it! We can work together to put it to
good use! Otherwise, if you feel led to pitch in, there will be a
donations box of some sort available, but I don't want this to be about
money. I want it to be about fellowship and obedience.
Registration and Contact Information
Registration is not required, but it is encouraging to know
that people are coming! It also helps to plan the supplies for
activities and food.

Area Attractions
- There is a wealth of Civial War
history in the area, and we like to do a little geocaching while we are
out and about, but really, there is enough to do right there on site
that there isnt much of a reason to leave unless the weather is
bad. In that case, there are movie theatres, bowling alley, other
indoor activities available nearby.

Where it says Wilderness Rd. ou can see our pavilion and bathrooms, farthest from the lake.
